FALSE. A YouTube short claims that Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon expressed amazement at President Bongbong Marcos for a new flood control project in Claveria, Cagayan.
FACT. There is no verified statement, press release, or official transcript showing Dizon saying that the flood control problem in Claveria or in the Philippines was fully resolved under President Marcos.
The reel creates a misleading impression of “success.” With over 19,000 views, it suggests that flood control projects are fully effective. In reality, official audits show many works were substandard, overpriced, or did not exist. The Commission on Audit flagged ₱341 million in substandard and non-existent projects.
Government actions indicate that serious issues remain. Secretary Dizon has ordered probes, suspended controversial projects—such as those in Oriental Mindoro—and directed cooperation with an Independent Commission for Infrastructure to investigate anomalies, irregularities, and misuse of funds related to flood control works.
There is no official confirmation that flooding issues in Claveria or nationwide are conclusively solved by one project or in a short timeframe.
