FALSE. Sen. Imee Marcos wants to investigate luggage money deliveries implicating Senators Tito Sotto and Ping Lacson’s involvement and links to Zaldy Co.
FACT. While Sen. Marcos filed the resolution, there are no photos of Sotto and Lacson aboard Co’s air assets.
A YouTube account posted a false report with a photo of Senator Imee Marcos with a text, “SENATOR IMEE MARCOS NAGHAIN NG RESOLUSYON PARA IMBESTIGAHAN ANG MGA MALE-MALETANG PERA NA ISINI-WALAT NG 18 OFFICIALS NG MARINES KUNG SAAN DAMAY SINA SENATOR PING LACSON AT SENATOR TITO SOTTO NA NASA LARAWANG NAKASAKAY SA AIR ASSETS NI ZALDY CO.”
It is true that Marcos filed Senate Resolution No. 317 to investigate allegations by 18 individuals identifying as former marines that they delivered multiple luggages containing cash to politicians.
However, the 18 “bagmen” do not have any link to fugitive and ex-politician Zaldy Co according to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The implication of Sotto and Lacson in the alleged scheme are also not supported by credible news organizations, including ABS-CBN and Daily Tribune, which have reported no such evidence.
Assertions that photos of these officials aboard air assets serve as proof of wrongdoing are speculative and lack evidentiary support, with no verification from official Senate records or aviation logs.
The initiation of the Senate inquiry is a factual and documented development.
Yet, the underlying accusations of bribery and the involvement of specific senators remain unverified claims rather than established facts, pending the outcome of any formal probe.
Official statements from the AFP and Senate further emphasize that no military or air assets were linked to Co in relation to these individuals, debunking the viral narrative.
Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon previously assured the public that the three aircraft linked to Co remain unsellable, even after being flown out of the country.
