FACT CHECK: San Jose del Monte station is NOT included in MRT-7
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

FALSE. San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, is not included in the MRT-7 Project following the news that there would only be 12 to 13 stations in the project.

FACT. According to the Department of Transportation, there would still be 14 stations in the MRT-7 Project, including the San Jose del Monte Station.

The rumor started from a post made on Facebook that asked if SJDM was indeed not a part anymore of the MRT-7, based on a story written on Philippine Star regarding the delay and troubles in their project.

But the truth is, the story written in the Philippine Star is only an opinion article. It has been made clear by the Department of Transportation that the SJDM station remains a go. There are just delays and realignments being reported regarding the station.

This probably stemmed from previous reports that only the first 12 stations, from North Avenue to Sacred Heart, will operate within the first half of 2027 while the other two stations are being pushed back. Government reports indicate that the other two stations, Tala and San Jose del Monte, will be completed and open only until 2028.

Earlier reports have confirmed that the planned route of MRT-7 since its announcement is to go from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, with a total of 14 stations. In 2025, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), together with the San Jose del Monte Local Government Unit (LGU), decided to relocate the SJDM station.

Thus, claims that the MRT-7 will not include San Jose Del Monte are baseless or inaccurate statements. It is important to note that SJDM will still be a station on MRT-7, even if its inauguration is delayed compared to the other initial 12 stations.
