FACT CHECK: Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is not in a military uniform, labelled as ‘bagong bayani’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

FALSE. Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV in full military uniform with aircrafts and tanks background labelled as “bagong bayani.”

FACT. The image exhibits multiple signs of AI generation, and no credible source online is found to verify the same image.

The post’s caption claimed: “Sen. Sonny Trillanes ang bagong bayani sa ating panahon, gawin nating Presidente 2028. PBBM, p’wede mo ba siya i-endorse sa bayan?”

However, attaching political messaging to an image does not establish its authenticity. In the absence of any reliable confirmation regarding its origin, the image should be treated as unverified and misleading content.

Visual analysis shows the image depicts Trillanes in a highly stylized military uniform with exaggerated medals and a dramatic military backdrop. There are no public records, official photographs, or media reports showing Trillanes attending an event or wearing a uniform identical to the one shown in the image.

Independent verification using Sightengine, an AI image detection tool, indicates that the image is 99% likely AI-generated. The assessment is based on factors such as unnaturally smooth facial features, inconsistencies in uniform textures, and background elements that appear digitally composited.

While Trillanes served as a Philippine Navy officer before entering politics and later held a Senate seat from 2007 to 2019, this background does not support the authenticity of the circulating image.

Even during his involvement in the 2003 Oakwood Mutiny, historical records and news archives show no documented photograph resembling the scene depicted, reinforcing the conclusion that the image is not an authentic representation of real events.
