FACT CHECK: Buldak noodles do not carry official cancer or infertility warnings
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

FALSE. A Facebook post claims that the manufacturer of Buldak noodles issued a warning linking the product to cancer and infertility.

FACT. Samyang Foods has released no official statement warning that Buldak noodles cause cancer or infertility.

There are no advisories, recall notices, or public health warnings from Samyang Foods or the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confirming any such risks. Likewise, there are no verified reports of regulatory agencies banning the product on these grounds.

Scientific research on ultra-processed foods—which include many instant noodles high in additives, preservatives, salt, and refined carbohydrates—shows that high consumption may increase health risks, such as heart disease or some cancers. However, there is no credible evidence that Buldak noodles specifically cause cancer or infertility.

While excessive sodium intake is linked to high blood pressure and cardiovascular risk, it does not directly cause cancer or infertility. Public health guidance emphasizes balanced nutrition and moderation, rather than attributing severe diseases to a single instant noodle brand.
