FACT CHECK: Sharon Cuneta has not publicly expressed resentment toward the Dutertes
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

MISLEADING. A Facebook post claims that Sharon Cuneta expressed “sama ng loob” (resentment) toward the Dutertes for supporting her brother’s political rival.

FACT. There is no verified statement from Sharon publicly saying she resented the Dutertes or calling them “walang awa o puso” for that reason. Credible reports indicate that past interactions were framed positively or neutrally, not as public animosity.

Sharon’s brother, Cesar “Chet” Cuneta, ran for Pasay City mayor in 2019. Photos circulated showing Sara Duterte raising Chet’s hand in support, sparking public debate among supporters of different candidates, but no evidence indicates Sharon expressed resentment.

Sara Duterte has described herself as a longtime fan of Sharon, sharing that she idolized her since childhood and hosted her during a city visit. Sharon has also publicly acknowledged friendly relations with Sara and the Duterte family unrelated to political conflicts.

In past interviews, Sharon emphasized that she does not hold hard feelings toward President Rodrigo Duterte despite political differences and past criticisms of her husband’s opponent. She highlighted understanding and friendship rather than resentment.
