FACT CHECK: Rep. Lordan Suan did not call OFWs “ungrateful” to Marcos
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

FALSE. A viral graphic claims that Cagayan de Oro 1st District Rep. Lordan Suan called overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) “ungrateful” to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

FACT. Rep. Lordan Suan denied making the statement and described the circulating quote card as fake news intended to mislead the public.

The viral graphic shows side-by-side photos of Suan and President Marcos with a caption claiming the congressman criticized OFWs for allegedly questioning the president. The quote card was shared in a Facebook post from a page that regularly posts political content and unverified claims.

On March 10, Suan addressed the circulating graphic on his official Facebook page, stating that the quote attributed to him is false.

He urged the public to verify information before sharing posts online, warning that the fabricated statement was meant to damage his reputation and spread misinformation.

Suan has served as the representative of Cagayan de Oro’s 1st District since 2022 and has been active in legislative work in Congress.

Similar cases of misinformation involving fabricated quote cards and edited social media posts have circulated online about public officials, highlighting the need for verification before sharing political content.
