FACT CHECK: No ICC order releasing Duterte or imprisoning Marcos Jr.

FALSE. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has ordered the release of former president Rodrigo Duterte and the imprisonment of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

FACT. There is no ICC ruling ordering the release of Rodrigo Duterte, and no case, warrant, or legal action against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the ICC. The claim is entirely unverified and misleading.

The claim circulated through a Facebook post that presented an alleged ICC decision using edited images and misleading captions suggesting major political developments.

The post uses sensational framing to imply official court action, despite lacking any announcement from the ICC or any credible international news coverage.

No credible news outlets or official ICC communications report any order involving Duterte’s release or any case against Marcos Jr.

There is also no legal record at the ICC indicating any investigation, arrest warrant, or proceedings involving President Marcos Jr.

The ICC operates through formal procedures, and any rulings or decisions are only released through official court statements and verified reporting.

Because of this, claims of sudden or extraordinary ICC rulings spread on social media without official confirmation are demonstrably false.
