FALSE. A viral claim circulating on Facebook and YouTube suggests that gambling tycoon Atong Ang said he would triple the ₱10-million bounty on his head for those responsible for the flood control corruption scandal. The posts include photos and video clips purportedly showing Ang making the statement during a media interview.
FACT. There is no verified evidence supporting this claim. Atong Ang never made such a statement, and no credible media outlet has reported him offering to increase any bounty related to the flood control issue. The images and videos used in the posts were taken from Ang’s July 3, 2025 press conference, where he filed countercharges against whistleblowers in the missing sabungeros case.
Since warrants for his arrest were issued in January 2026, Atong Ang has not made any public statements. He does not maintain an official social media account where the quote could be verified. Authorities confirm that he is currently a fugitive facing multiple charges, including kidnapping with homicide and serious illegal detention, related to the disappearance of dozens of sabungeros. His camp’s most recent reported action was the surrender of his firearms.
Authorities and reputable media organizations urge the public not to spread unverified claims. Relying on official statements and credible reporting is essential to prevent misinformation, which can have serious legal and social consequences.
