FACT CHECK: No proof Davao City received oil supply from Brunei
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

FALSE. Davao City received an oil supply from Brunei amid global disruptions caused by the United States–Israel war on Iran.

FACT. There is no confirmed oil shipment from Brunei to Davao City, and no official discussions or agreements support this claim.

The claim spread through viral Facebook posts, including one from the page “Historya Channel.”

The post used fabricated statements allegedly from political figures to make the claim appear legitimate, gaining over 3,000 reactions and 1,600 comments.

Davao City Information Office Head Harvey Lanticse clarified that no such oil deal exists.

“We have no information regarding the alleged oil supply from Brunei. The city government has not held any discussions with Brunei on this matter,” he said.

The vessel shown in the viral posts was also misrepresented.

A shipping executive clarified that the ship belongs to a local domestic company and is not linked to any Brunei oil shipment, further debunking the claim.
