FACT CHECK: Iglesia ni Cristo has not endorsed a Sara Duterte–Rodante Marcoleta tandem for 2028
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

FALSE. A viral post claims that the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) has endorsed a supposed 2028 election tandem of Vice President Sara Duterte and SAGIP Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta.

FACT. There is no official endorsement from the Iglesia ni Cristo for the alleged tandem.

The claim circulated through a Facebook post shared by the page “Anna Media.” Similar posts also appeared on other websites before spreading on Facebook, using sensational headlines suggesting the church had “shocked the nation” by endorsing the Duterte–Marcoleta tandem.

Some of the posts directed readers to “details in the comments,” a tactic often used in clickbait and misinformation content.

Available reports show that the only group that publicly floated support for a possible Sara Duterte–Rodante Marcoleta tandem for the 2028 elections is the political party Partido Reporma.

The statements proposing the idea came from the party’s chairman, former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, and not from the Iglesia ni Cristo.

The Iglesia ni Cristo is widely known for practicing bloc voting during elections, which often attracts national attention due to its influence.

Because of this, any official political endorsement from the church would likely be widely reported by major news organizations. However, no credible media outlets have reported any INC endorsement of the alleged 2028 tandem.
