FACT CHECK: Kabataan Rep. Raoul Manuel did not slam former senator Antonio Trillanes over VP Sara Duterte impeachment and called for his return to the CPP NPA.

FALSE. A Facebook image claims that Kabataan Rep. Raoul Manuel said former senator Antonio Trillanes IV should be a New People’s Army member anew.

FACT. Rep. Raoul Manuel did not make the statement nor alleged Trillanes of lacking evidence after filing raps for Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment.

The Facebook page, Para sa Pilipino fabricated the quote attributed to the congressman. It was posted together with his image holding a microphone and a statement, “TRILLANES HINDI AKO NAGKAMALI SA SINASABI KO FUCOS KAYO SA IMPEACHMENT NI VP SARA EH WALA NAMAN KAYONG SAPAT NA EBENSYA SIYA PA TALAGA BINANGGA MO DAHIL SA MGA PANGARAP NINYO! MAG BALIK CPP NPA KA NALANG,” calling out the former senator.

This post presents a strong political claim yet provides no source links, transcripts, or verifiable context—such as a date or venue—and lacks any attribution from credible Philippine news organizations. Furthermore, the wording reflects an emotional rant rather than a formal public remark, mixing multiple unproven assertions without audio or video for verification. Because of its controversial nature, a genuine statement of this magnitude would typically receive widespread mainstream media coverage. The total absence of such references strongly suggests the quote was manufactured or taken entirely out of context.

Its visual presentation displays clear indicators of graphic manipulation rather than authentic news formatting, utilizing high-contrast black backgrounds, dramatic red accents, and all-capital text designed to trigger social media engagement. Irregularities in spacing and punctuation suggest manual editing, while the layout appears to be a composite of a photo and a text panel rather than a genuine screenshot from a news broadcast or press release. Ultimately, the absence of any credible media logos or professional journalistic styling confirms that the image was crafted to be persuasive rather than informative.

Trillanes documented 22 potential articles of impeachment in September 2024 and filed plunder and graft complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte. Meanwhile, he has never joined the CPP-NPA and has categorically denied links to the group, emphasizing that his Magdalo group follows a different ideology.
