What are the four articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte

Vice President Sara Duterte faces four articles of impeachment centered on allegations involving the misuse of public funds, unexplained wealth, bribery, and threats against government officials.

The first article concerns the alleged misuse and misappropriation of confidential funds. VP Sara is accused of irregularly liquidating ₱500 million in confidential funds from the Office of the Vice President and ₱112.5 million in Department of Education funds during her tenure as Vice President and Education Secretary.

Questions have been raised over the timing of disbursements, the absence of supporting audit documents, and the alleged use of intermediaries whose authority to handle the funds has been questioned.

The second article focuses on unexplained wealth and alleged non-disclosure in Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs).

VP Sara was accused of possessing wealth allegedly disproportionate to her declared earnings and failing to disclose certain assets, liabilities, and business connections, particularly allegations covering financial activity from 2022 to 2025 — the suspicious transaction reports involving substantial cash movements.

Then, VP Sara is accused of the third Article, which is distributing monetary gifts and cash envelopes to officials and procurement personnel within DepEd.

The prosecution alleges that these payments were intended to influence officials, bypass public bidding requirements, violate financial regulations, and speed up government approvals.

The fourth and most politically explosive article concerns alleged plotting of an assassination and grave threats.

She was accused of publicly threatening President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, with evidence during the November 23, 2024 Zoom press conference.

However, impeachment charges are allegations that must still be established through the constitutional process.

As of now, the impeachment trial continues with three hostile witnesses declared, including her Chief of Staff, Michael Poa.
