A viral YouTube video claims that Iran may attack the Philippines with ballistic missiles because of the country’s alliance with the United States and the presence of Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) sites.
The video also claims that Iran’s long-range missiles can reach the Philippines and that the government is already preparing for a possible strike. However, the claim relies on speculation and is not supported by verified statements from Philippine defense officials.
The Department of National Defense (DND) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) clarified that the tensions remain confined to the Middle East and that the Philippines is not involved in the conflict.
Military officials also explained that Iran’s longest-range missiles can travel about 2,000 kilometers, while the distance between Iran and the Philippines is approximately 7,500 kilometers, making a direct strike impossible with Iran’s current missile capabilities.
