FACT CHECK: Marcos has not resigned; Duterte not assuming presidency
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

FALSE. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has resigned and Vice President Sara Duterte is set to assume the presidency.

FACT. Marcos remains the sitting president. There has been no official announcement from Malacañang or any government body confirming his resignation, removal, or any transfer of power.

The video, which has circulated online, presents speculation as fact by claiming that Marcos has stepped down and that members of his Cabinet are resigning. However, these assertions are unsupported by verified evidence and rely on unconfirmed information.

The content uses a sensational title and narrative to suggest a sudden political upheaval, but it provides no credible sources and falsely frames unverified claims as confirmed developments.

Under Article VII, Section 8 of the 1987 Constitution, the vice president can only assume the presidency in cases of death, permanent disability, removal from office, or resignation of the president. None of these conditions have occurred or been officially confirmed.

As of now, both Marcos and Duterte continue to serve in their respective positions.
